Abstract
India has invested much effort in bringing supplies of safe and clean water to the
countryside in the half century since independence. and. in terms of the number of people
that now have access to modern supplies of water, the achievement is indeed impressive.
It is nonetheless true that there is a great deal of concern abcut both the quality and
quantity of watater reaching those who do have access, as well as the difficulties of those
still without my access at all.
